The K12 Clinical Oncology program supports the development of postdoctoral scholars and junior faculty through patient oriented cancer research training, curricula, and mentored projects. I’m looking for… Application Program Requirements Program Eligibility Applications for the K12 Program are accepted annually from April 1 – November 1. Apply now » Program tracks Four key areas of research training in specific pathways Career development for K12 Clinical Oncology Scholars will include didactic lectures, coursework, mentored research projects, career development seminar and workshops customized within each of these four specialized tracks. The didactic training program will be two years long and will result in MSCI or MPHS degree. As part of the four key tracks, scholars will be required to participate in two semesters of Research Seminar and two semesters of their specific track seminars. Translational Medicine / Clinical Trialist (TMCT) Emphasis on clinical trial design, conduct and analysis with incorporation of thoughtful correlative studies. This track results in a Masters of Clinical Investigation degree . Cancer Genomics (CG) Understanding the fundamental principles of genomic sequencing, integration and implementation in patient oriented research. This track results in a Masters of Clinical Investigation degree . Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) Focusing on health care outcomes research pertaining to oncology. This track results in a Masters of Population Health Sciences degree . Cancer Immunology and Cellular Therapy (CICT) Emphasis on training junior investigators to conduct patient-oriented research focusing on cancer immunology and immunotherapy studies. This track results in a Masters of Clinical Investigation degree . Program benefits Salary support: 75% of the scholar’s salary (up to $100,000 per year for two years) Up to $25,000 per year to support research and travel Tuition for graduate-level coursework offered through programs at WUSM including Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and the Master of Population Health Sciences Protected research time: A minimum of 75% protected time must be guaranteed by each K12 scholar’s department. Surgeons may only be allowed 50% protected research time. Clinical Research Training Center (CRTC): Access to the CRTC, which provides computer labs, break-out rooms, a classroom, poster printing, and administrative office suites.
